Hi Bertie, could you clarify what you mean by frozen account? Are you not able to login to your Dropbox account?

You can download entire folders from the Dropbox site provided that the folder has fewer than 10,000 files and is less than 20 GB in size.

Let me know if this info helps!

Copy all files on DropBox to one external drive

Could you please help me to understand how to copy files from dropbox to an external hard drive while using a Mac?  I am needing to do a substantial file management modification that will need to be approved before uploading back to Dropbox.  Thank you for your help on this.

Hey there @Jeffie72, how are you today?

Are you just trying to copy/move files from your Dropbox folder to begin with or you'd like to move your Dropbox folder to an external hard drive?

If the former one, you just need to copy or move the files you'd like to your external drive using your computer's OS's functions.

If the latter one, note that our desktop app can indeed be used with an external hard drive but you'll have to ensure that the drive is always connected to your computer while Dropbox is running. If the drive is ever disconnected from the computer while Dropbox is running there is a small chance that the Dropbox software will start deleting files before realizing that the entire drive has been removed.

Additionally, you should ensure that the file system of the external drive meets the file system requirements. Those can be found in the following Help Center article:

https://www.dropbox.com/help/desktop-web/system-requirements

To move your Dropbox folder to an external drive use the steps in the following Help Center article: https://www.dropbox.com/help/desktop-web/move-dropbox-folder

[The location you select is the folder the Dropbox folder will be moved to, rather than the folder your Dropbox files will be stored in.]

A good alternative here would be our selective sync option - I don't know if you're familiar with it but you can find all about it here: https://www.dropbox.com/help/syncing-uploads/selective-sync-overview

I hope this information helps and please keep me posted on your progress!
