Couldn't start dropbox

Couldn't start dropbox

New member | Level 2

I recently completed the dropbox "security check".

This check prompted me to remove access to computers which I no longer recognised, or that had logged in a long time ago.

I did this and then went to use my notebook PC and get the following message:

"Couldn't start dropbox, this is usually because of a permissions error".

It appears that removing access to computers I did not recognise, has also removed access from a computer I do use.

There is no option of giving permission back to the computer.

I tried to re-install dropbox, but get the same error message.

I cannot login or logout of dropbox on the Notebook.

How do I get dropbox access back on this notebook? There appears to be no option to do so whatsoever. Cannot even reinstall!

Hi @jwilts,

Most probably you have unintentionally damaged your application settings somehow. Dropbox seems can't recover them, unfortunately. Dropbox application doesn't even give a try when possible automated recovery, which is like a bug in the application. Anyway... Can you post the text file content pointed in message you are referring to?
