Deleted all files

Explorer | Level 4

I recently installed Dropbox on my mac and I accidentally let it sync all my files. Then again, I accidentally deleted most of them (including my desktop files) and when I try dragging the files out of Trash it won't let me. I visited the dropbox website and I was able to recover them but they still don't appear on my desktop. Seriously need help

Hi there @randomhuman, let's see what we can do on this. 

 

Since you're able to find the files on the website, could you let me know what you see when you hover over the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock?

When I click the Dropbox icon I see “My Mac” and in there I see all my files but I can’t drag or make them appear on my desktop. Also, I mentioned that I accidentally synced all my files, and it’s still in the midst of syncing. I paused it cuz I’m afraid I’ll lose all my files whatsoever. Can you please also help me with that? Should I continue to let all the files sync and later transfer it back to my computer? Thanks!

I would recommend letting the files sync instead of stopping it, and then turn computer backup off by following these steps
