Deleting files on my computer

Deleting files on my computer

LovisaBerglin
Explorer | Level 3

I downloaded dropbox to get some litterature for my class.
Immediatly the storage on Dropbox became full and I saw that Dropbox had downloaded all of my files on my computer to its own storage.
I deleted the files on Dropbox-storage that I didnt needed there (because I already had them on my computers harddrive), but I realized that I simultaneously deleted the files on my computer.

How can I do so I can release space on Dropbox and NOT delete files on my computer? I do not want to pay for extra storage.

Thanks for the help!

You have the computer backup feature enabled.

Thanks!

Although, when I disabled that feature all of my folders dissapeared from my computer and transfered themselves into my dropbox.
What am I doing wrong? I just want my fodlers and files (that previously was on my computer) to be in my computers harddrive, NOT on Dropbox's harddrive.

And if I´m not mistaken...if I delete Dropbox now, then all of my files will be deleted with the app...so that's not an option either..

Hi @LovisaBerglin, thanks for posting on the Community!

If you disabled the computer backup, you should have had an option to move the files back to their default locations.

If not, you can try manually moving these files back to remove them from your Dropbox account, and free up your quota at the same time.

Keep me updated with any progress!

Hi!

I had to manually, for every file, disable the sharing-option from my dropbox account. But I think that this should do it.

Thanks for all the help!
