Does Smart Sync automatically apply to new files added to a folder that's been set to Online Only?

Does Smart Sync automatically apply to new files added to a folder that's been set to Online Only?

If I've set a folder to Online Only by Smart Sync, do new files subsequently added to that folder automatically become Online Only? It seems they don't, and I have to keep re-setting the folder to Online Only after I've added new files to it.

If you add a file to the Dropbox folder directly, you'll have to mark is as online-only manually.

However, if you want to avoid doing so, you can add it from the web and it should automatically sync as online-only.

Hi @Doug C, thanks for posting on the Community!

Are you referring to files directly added into the Dropbox folder, or files synced down from the site?

This will help me to assist further!

I'm referring to files directly added into the Dropbox folder

Hey @Doug C, files that are added directly to the Dropbox folder from another local location already have the information downloaded.

Once the information syncs across to the web, you can Smart Sync the file as online-only.

I hope this helps, but let us know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

I know I can. My question is do I have to do it manually, or does the file become online-only automatically when it's copied into a folder that's been set as online-only?
