Re: Don't have permission to permanently delete a folder

Don't have permission to permanently delete a folder

Hi we have a dropbox folder which is shared amongst three people.

I have created a subfolder which I now want to permanently delete.

As I'm not the of the parent folder I don't have permission to permanently delete the subfolder I created.

As my girlfriend is the owner of the parent folder I have asked her to permanently delete the subfolder, but dropbox claims she doesn't have permission either.

How do we permanently get rid of this subfolder?

We're using the dropbox website on a windows machine.

Kind regards

Hi @Jay

That was it! we changed the ownership of the folder to me and now it's permanently deleted. Thank you very much.

Hi there @MJoergensen, thanks for reaching out!

Would you be able to send me a screenshot of the error that you're both getting there?

Also, did the folder have any files in there, or it's just the folder itself that you want to delete?

Let me know and we'll go from there!

Hi @Daphne

Thank you for replying.

I've attached three screenshots, two of the error messages we each get, and one showing that NS (who apparently doesn't have the right permission) is the owner of the folder.

Hi @MJoergensen, are you in a Dropbox Business team by any chance, or are these all personal accounts?

Hi @Jay

NS's account is a business account while the rest are personal.

Is NS the team admin on that Dropbox Business team?

The team admin does have the ability to prevent permanent deletions on any file in their account.
