When I download a document shared with me to edit (in excel), is it still sharing with the others?
I downloaded an excel document that was shared with me to edit via my desktop app, but when i look at the documnet in my drop box it now say I am the only member. Why???
Hey there @StephanieOGB; welcome to our Community and thanks for using Dropbox!
Can you please clarify if this is an individually shared file or if it's inside a shared folder?
How exactly was it shared with you in the first place?
Keep me posted, Stephanie.

I see; thanks for clearing this up for me, Stephanie.
Individually shared files are view only by default so in this case, you'll need to put this file in a folder and then share the folder with your collaborator(s).
Let me know if that helps!

Wow - yes, very helpful. I didn't know that.
SO - it just has to be within a shared folder and I can download to my desktop app, edit in excel on my computer and it will be updated within the shared folder automatically and the other can see the edits?
Am I missing any steps?
If you'll be syncing this folder via our desktop app on your computer, just make sure to work on the file that's located within your Dropbox folder and it will be synced across your devices and to our website as well, Stephanie.
Let me know if you need any further assistance!
