Hi

I have an HP Pavilion Laptop. My dropbox crashes when I try to open a large excel file. Can you please help solve this issue?

Thank you!

Hi there @Jocy, could you please elaborate a bit on this so as to have a better understanding of what you're seeing? For example:

  • When you say that Dropbox crashes, does the desktop app close? Does the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock disappears?
  • Do you see any error messages when trying to open the file?
  • How large is the Excel file in question?

Any screenshots you could send (without personal info) would be very helpful too. Thanks in advance!

Hi Lusil

My dropbox is attached to my  file explorer. I attached a screenshot of the error message. The dropbox icon next to the computer's clock doesn't dissapear. The excel spreadsheets vary from 245 kb to 1,248 kb.

In alternative, I am dowloading the files through Dropbox.com. This is the only way I can access the files without it crashing.

File Explorer- Not responding. (2).jpg

Thank you!

Thanks for the swift reply, @Jocy

To help isolate this, could you please try quitting the desktop app by using the following steps:
  • Click the Dropbox icon in your system tray.
  • Select your profile picture or initials to the right of the search bar.
  • Click Quit Dropbox.
If the issue persists when Dropbox is completely closed, this suggests that the cause is related to something outside of the desktop app.

In any case, let me know what you find!
