Have only had dropbox for about a month, only sharing one file, and it keeps prompting me to upgrade because I'm over full, which I dont understand how because there's currently nothing in the folders!!

Hi @Snowisper 

 

Shared folders use up your quota, so, my guess is thats where all your space has gone. See www.dropbox.com/account for your quota info 🙂

I dont understand how my shared folders count as I didnt ask for them to be listed on Dropbox in the first place. How do I unshare my folders? I can't find it anywhere!

Shared folders can only be in your account if you accept them, however, its easy to leave them. Just follow https://help.dropbox.com/files-folders/share/leave-shared-folder

I tried following these instructions but the ONLY thing I see in my dropbox is "My PC (pcname)". And when I click on the three dots after I over my mouse over My PC, I dont see an "unshare" nor do I see a "delete". Am I doing something wrong?

It sounds like you're using the computer backup feature @Snowisper.

 

Could you have a look at this Help Center article and let us know if that's the case?
