Dropbox Paper + Trello

Explorer | Level 4

I am new to using Dropbox Paper and am interested in the Trello integration but cannot seem to get my trello cards/boards to appear "automagically" as per the example code.

Is there a special trick I am missing?

Looking at the source code I can see that my Trello link fails to trigger the iframe generation.

Hi Barnaby, thanks for your post!

It looks like the issue you're experiencing is due to the fact that you're pasting a link to a Trello *board* rather than a *card*. You can see the distinction in the Trello URL: if you see /b in the URL, you're linking to a board, whereas /c links to a card.

Dropbox Paper will automatically display previews of Trello cards, but not boards – so this is expected behavior. If you try a link to a card instead (/c), do you get a preview successfully?

What browser are you using? Try both Firefox and Chrome and see if it works in either of them.

Hi there,

Is the URL you’re using for your Trello marked up in the same way as the following?

If so, try also using Paper in Incognito/Private Browsing mode without any extensions running. Sometimes some plugins prevent iframes from loading since they could pose security risks (quite rightly so, on the rest of the Internet), which inadvertently affect the Paper site with their settings.

Let us know how it goes!

Hi there, the form of the trello link is:

https://trello.com/b/AbCdEfGh

(actual url has a different set of letters after trello.com/b/)

If I look at my javascript log I can see quite a lot of 403 errors relating to things like: https://paper.dropbox.com/static/sourcemap/pad_page_external.80d2bfc42569de99f4f4dfa05c24bfde93a8187...

I suspect that this is the root of the problem...

Richard

Spot-on.  serves me right for being new to Trello and Dropbox Paper.

I had not appreciated the difference between Trello Boards (which I thought were supported) and Trello Cards. I had wondered about the /b/ /c/ thing but hadn't made the obvious connection.

Thanks

Barnaby
