Dropbox Paper leave a shared document or folder

Dropbox Paper leave a shared document or folder

I am having a problem, I read an article about how to manage projects using paper, the article had a link to a sample Paper Document, I clicked on it and I was added to the Document list of people who can see and commend along with a couple hundred more that also clicked the link, now that I looked at the file I want to remove it from my Paper Docs, but I cannot find the option to do so, I can archive my own documents and eventually delete them, but I cannot remove or leave that document that was "shared" with me.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am new to Dropbox Paper, I manage my notes elsewher but want to move all of them to Paper, I will pull the trigger once I can also have offline access to those notes on my Mac.

Hey @cdstars & @LukeHowellDev, please accept my apologies for the slight delay in getting back in touch with you. Initially I’d like to thank you for sharing your thoughts on our Forum!

Following, I’d like to follow-up with both & try to figure out a solution that would help you better organize your accounts according to your needs.

When it comes to your question @LukeHowellDev, you may keep in mind that you could just Unfollow the doc by un-ckecking the Follow option from the menu that appears in the ellipsis icon (i.e. I’m just re-iterating my suggestion above)

Following, based on your description cdstars, it would be best for you to create a Template & remove all members once your training is over. (Note: I’ve created a walkthrough here that could be useful.) This way, they’ll be able to keep a copy & see your changes during you training, while your docs won’t clutter their workspace once your sessions are over.

Please let me know how you get on with these options & I’ll make sure to check back with you asap. Wishing you both a great weekend ahead & thanks again for posting us your questions on the Community!

Has there been any progress on this? Definately not solved and don't want to continue looking at Paper files people have invited me to that I cannot get rid of!

Hi ScottishPower & to all of you that are still following this thread, thanks for posting us this feedback & please let me follow-up a bit more closely with you.

You may keep in mind that I’ve recently discussed how you could go about Unfollowing Paper docs you no longer need here. Please have a look at this discussion at your earliest convenience & do let me know how you get on with this advice on this conversation.

I hope that this is helpful to you & I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

No, that doesn't work.

I'm not following the document which is shared with me and it's still in my view.
It's a private document which is shared with me and I can only view it.

Please figure out a solution to opt-out from documents like this.

Thank you.

Hello! I'm facing the same problem as people above - I'm not able to remove myself from the shared document.

Is there any work being done on the topic?

re. unfollowing: I did unfollow a document that was shared with me, but it still appears in "Home" in the list of documents.

Hey @AlexSimkin, to re-phrase my initial suggestions, if you’re an Editor, you can Archive the doc for everyone accessing it, though if you have Viewer rights you can ask the Owner to remove you if you’d like to de-clutter your workspace.

That said, it would be worth noting that I’ve already made sure to pass your comments on to our team specialists, as your thoughts help us better understand your needs & I’ve added your voice to the feedback gathered internally.

Other than that, I'm always here in case you’d like to continue this discussion in more depth. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day ahead!

Jane,

As a paying Dropbox customer, please reiterate for I'm sure the thousandth time, to the people in charge of Paper that this issue is utterly ridiculous. I honestly can't believe that there is any solid customer research and feedback to support making shared items basically permanent. At the very least I should be able to hide these documents somehow. It's almost 2019 and I still cannot leave a shared document. Every other stranger who is shared on this document can also view my email address. I could go on extensively about my frustration but you get the idea. I'll just stop by saying I've even considered closing my Dropbox account because of this issue.

it's 2019 now and they still don't have a solution for this... 😞
