Dropbox badge not showing on mapped drives

Hi

I share office excel documents and to maintain consistancy across all pc's to link workbooks, all pc's have an 'x drive'. This enables me to link to other workbooks wherever they are on each pc. However the the Dropbox badge will not show when i open a dropbox file from the 'x drive' but will show when i open the file directly from my local dropbox folder.  This causes conflicting files to be saved.

Any ideas anyone?

Hi @devonadmin, thanks for joining the Community!

Just to clarify, what do you mean when you ‘open dropbox file from the 'x drive'’.

Is this a separate Dropbox folder located in that drive? Is the drive linked to your Dropbox account in any way?

Hi Jay

Yes when i open a file from the x drive. 

I have a local Dropbox folder which i have shared and simple created an x drive mapped to that shared folder.

Thanks for the info. The Dropbox desktop application can only detect files physically located in the Dropbox folder for the Badge to show up.

As you’re opening the file via the mapped X drive, which is essentially your shared folder, the Badge won’t appear, since this isn’t in the Dropbox folder.

I hope this helps to clarify matters!

Thanks for getting back to me.

I thought this might be the case.  I will need to make sure I open files from the local dropbox folder.  I can still use formulas linked to the x drive within my workbook.
