I went to upgrade my Dropbox client, and when I installed the new version, I'm getting errors trying to start it.
I've also tried removing the thing from my system completely (or so I thought I did), but I'm still seeing errors.
I try starting it with
.. and I get the long string of commands like normal, except at the end I get ...

As others have reported, up until a couple days ago, I got the message that said "syncing will stop in x days".
Today, though, I noticed that in spite of being on XFS, Dropbox is still syncing on my openSUSE system.
So, did they come to their senses? Would be nice to have an official answer about what's currently going on.
Several people reporting that dropbox is syncing after the warning date, without any info from dropbox to as why this is happening. intended or not.
Continue to use it at your own risk I suppose ? The way dropbox is treating their customers right now is reason enough to leave, technical limitations or not.
Um... How on the face of the internet did you guys come to the conclusion that the default install settings for Ubuntu 16.04 and half of the other moden Linux OS's were "uncommon"?
Encrypted home directory on install is something I have been using for basically a decade. It's all but required by most of not all companies I have worked for which allow multiple user accounts on a machine. It's a good practice and very very "normal".
While I haven't used the paid team project in a while, two of the groups I formerly worked with and still consult with continued the pracice. (I set them up on Dropbox. ) They all now have to switch.
Please reconsider supporting encrypted home directories.
Thats what you get when you buy a new SSD Drive to copy your Dropbox folder over (formated as ext4)

Hi, iam running debian Linux and caused by your decision not to support btrfs i bought a new nvm ssd, formated it as ext4 mounted it on my debian and wanted to move the dropbox folder to this partition, unfortunately your dropboxclient tells me "Unsupported File System" is this a kind of out of season April Fools joke ?

If you received a notification on Linux and you are running ext4, it may be because you are also running ecryptfs. Ecrypfts is not supported.
My OS is running on LVM cryptsetup, but the SSD is not encrypted and bare mounted as ext34

thats what i wanted to do, via the "MOVE" option from within your application, but when i select the ext4 fromated SSD your aplpication tells me "UNSOPPORTED FILESYSTEM"

Removable media: SD cards, or any device considered "Removable media" by your operating system, are not supported locations for the Dropbox folder.
Since when is an SSD Drive (Harddrive) PLugged into my SSD M.2 Slot and mounted within my operating System a removable device

I don't know why this was removed from the thread, but may be it would be fine the Dropbox PR staff to improve their qualification. SD and SSD look like just one letter more, but there are 2 different abbreviations:
SD - Secure Digital. This stands for removable media storage card. Ref: https/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital
SSD - Solid State Drive. This stands for some kind of "disk"! Ref: https/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive

About this thread. Some time ago @Jane didn't give me any answer to my question. All relative 'answers' are incomplete and in same time closely related to the problem You just mention! This problem seems to be some bug in the Dropbox application, but probably nobody will see this if this stupid decision wasn't get. This thread is mark as closed but (I'm sure You better than me) know that this is not true. Real question (what is going on and why all this happens) is still open. In this context answer to questions like this on top of this page from @MagnusL3D would be something fine.

Today i noticed the deamon started to sinc again on linux ( dropbox folder in xfs, deamon in btrfs )
Im glad they changed their mind about the supported file systems, i hope it will stay that way.
