Dropbox complains it can't access folders that it has no reason to touch

Dropbox complains it can't access folders that it has no reason to touch

Brian M.22

Dropbox for Windows complains about sync issues, saying it can't access My Music, My Pictures, or My Videos. Dropbox has no reason to touch these folders. Why does it keep presenting these as sync issues?

I don't have the system backup feature enabled, and these folders don't reside inside my Dropbox folder. I opened "Properties" for each to confirm that they're still in my home directory, next to and not inside the Dropbox folder.

Hey @Brian M.22, let's see what we can do here.

Since you've made sure that computer backup isn't enabled, could you give these steps a try?

Give me a shout with any updates, thanks!

Thank you. I've tried the Hard Links option. The warning doesn't appear every single day, so I don't yet know if that resolved the problem.

Is it expected that "Fix Hardlinks" doesn't give any form of confirmation when clicked?

Edit: My mistake. It does show confirmation. That wasn't clear because it takes a few minutes to complete the operation and there's no indication that an operation is in progress.

Just to make sure that we're on the same page, are you still having trouble with this?

It's been a few days and the message hasn't returned. I believe the hard links option solved it.

Thank you!
