I downloaded dropbox on my mac because I was trying to link my scrivener on my computer to my ipad. After download, I realized that dropbox was trying to sync all my files, despite following people's directions online. I decided to delete the app and start fresh, but after deleting the app, all my files are gone on my computer. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Deletion of the application itself, can't be an issue. Most probably you have done some additional moves, including removal of Dropbox folder and/or set some settings. For more thoughts in this direction take a look here. 😉
