Dropbox doesn't update disk space nor clear cache

Dropbox doesn't update disk space nor clear cache

Hello community!

A colleague of mine is having trouble saving files to our shared dropbox. Her external harddrive had 1GB left out of 2TB, however she couldn't free up any space, despite changing sync to online or even removing sync of specific folders in selective sync. I looked at her .dropbox.cache which had over 1,3 TB worth of files, somehow clogging up her harddrive. The problem seems to have faded now, but I'm unsure of why her cache isn't cleared more often. It seems as if it's never been cleared.

I've reinstalled dropbox twice on her PC in the past 3 months due to not syncing correctly, and I'm confused as to why the cache hadn't been cleared by then and why it still doesn't. Is there anything I can do?

Hi @MarcusLorentzen, thanks for messaging the Community!

Do they have any security software which could be preventing the Dropbox app from making changes there?

If the cache folder gets too large, you can clear it manually by following these steps.

Keep me updated with any progress!
