Dropbox files appear in File Manager but not Dropbox

Dropbox files appear in File Manager but not Dropbox

I use Dropbox Basic on a Windows 10 machine. Today, I found that a bunch of my files had "gone missing" from Dropbox: they don't appear in the Windows app or on the website. However, I can access them through File Manager, so I know they're still out there. What happened?

Jay, I found that the folder had been moved to Archives. I moved it back to Dropbox, and the files showed up. Now, lets'see if the backups work.

Hi @Roger B.30, thanks for messaging the Community!

Are the files located in the Dropbox folder itself?

Can you see if the Dropbox desktop application is syncing or is up to date, when you hover over the icon in the system tray?

A screenshot showing their location on the PC, and where they should be on the Dropbox site would help greatly!

Jay, here's a listing of a folder within the "vanished" folder: note the "address line" at the top.

Okay, so you're saying this folder isn't visible on the Dropbox site?

Could you try right clicking one of the ODT files (not the shortcut files since they won't load correctly) and then click 'View on Dropbox.com' to see if it loads on the site?

I found a file in the folder that I had a link to, and I right-clicked it and chose "view in Dropbox"; the file appeared, so I know it's there.

Just to clarify, you were able to locate the file on the Dropbox site using the steps I provided, but you can't locate if you're navigating there manually?

Could you give more information on what you're experiencing exactly, with screenshots of what you're clicking and where you're trying to see it?
