Dropbox instantly filled up; need to safely empty it to make space

Hi,

So I downloaded dropbox specifically for the purpose of sharing a single file. During the installation, all 2GBs worth of dropbox space were filled up, due to me misunderstanding and syncing dropbox to my Desktop and Documents during the install. I only need dropbox for this single file, but it’s completely occupied by other unnecessary files. How can I safely desync them from my dropbox? Do I just need to make a new account?

If you need just a single file to sync, why you have tuned your "Computer Backup" feature on? 🧐

You probably have tuned this feature on unintentionally. Turn it off - take a look on part "Turn off computer backup" (near the topic end) and at point 6 select "Keep content in folders on this PC/Mac". That's it.
