I didnt know there was a limit on how many people I could share a file with and now for several consecutive days I am told to try again in 24 hours - what else can I do? Had I know I would not have sent the file to as many people...

Generally, there is a daily limit when sharing files and folders. In order to look int this matter further, I'd recommend contacting the support team directly.
They'll be able to investigate and assist from there on.
