Hello! I've spent most of my day trying to figure out why is Dropbox using 500MB+ memory when it's not doing anything (I'm on Big Sur). I've gone through all these steps, re-installed dropbox, fixed permissions, fixed hardlinks, checked symlinks (it didn't reveal any), and after restaring my mac (screenshots were taken after logging in), dropbox starts using 350MB+ memory, and it only gets worse after a few minutes. I have smart sync off, I don't have a large number of files, so I don't know what else I could do to get this fixed. While I was typing this message it got up to 654MB memory (checked on istat), without doing anything.
Please help me get this fixed.
Hi there @acsandi; thanks for joining our Community!
Since you've gone through most of the basic troubleshooting so far, may I ask you perform a clean, advanced re-install of the app, reboot your computer and let me know if you're still noticing high CPU usage?
Thanks!

Hello Walter,
After the following the steps of the advanced re-install, I still have the same problem. Right after restarting my laptop - without any syncing going on - I took a screenshot. After 10-15 minutes it only goes up...and won't stop until it reaches 590MB or so.
Hi @acsandi, could you clarify how many files you have on your account approximately?

Hello Jay,
I don't have a huge number of files, 5000-6000. I have selective sync enabled, because I like to upload bigger files/raw photos thorugh the website instead of using sync, so my dropbox barely has to do any syncing.

Hello! I'm having the same issue. I haven't followed the troubleshooting steps yet (and I might do that next), but just wanted to report my data point in case there's a broader thing going on here with Dropbox and Big Sur.
