Error message when trying to restore a file...."oops and error has occurred"

Error message when trying to restore a file...."oops and error has occurred"

New member | Level 2

Today someone used my account information to log into my account and delete majority of my files, none of them are in my deleted file folder, however, if I search for the file in the search bar, I can find it and am given the option to restore it or permanently delete it, when I click the restore button I either recieve an error message "oops, an error has occured, please try again later" or the page just refreshes itself. The file is a personal file and has not been shared to or from anyone else. Is there any hope of saving it?

Hi @FTM, thanks for your message!

If you're not seeing the missing files on the deleted files page, but you do see them in the search bar then there's a few possibilities as to where the files might be:

  • The files were deleted outside of the 30 day period.
  • They were on a shared folder you deleted
  • They were on a shared folder you don't have access to any more.

Are you certain the files were deleted within the last 30 days? Can you check if there are any shared folders you can add back to your account from here? Do you see any events regarding the deletion, such as removing your access to a folder?

This will help me assist further!
