Error moving a file from dropbox folder (this is dropbox business) to desktop/test folder.

Explorer | Level 4

The fille will be moved, but give it a second and it will be restored by dropbox.

The problem is  that we are moving using windows batch commands.

This tool will process any new file addedd to c:\dropbox\sample_folder and after processing will move it to c:\apps\processed_files folder. We are using the windows move and xcopy commands.

After switching to dropbox business, we noticed errors in our scripts and traced it to the fact that dropbox business will not allow that command (it will always restore the file), we have not experienced this in dropbox personal.

Hi @Monday_Fly. The purple folder is a unique location/space in Dropbox Business Teams. Each member has a purple folder where they can save the files, they don't want placed in the shared team workspace that the rest of the members can see(the rest of the account).

So, this purple folder is a system folder you cannot/are not meant to recreate.

Hi there @Monday_Fly

Welcome to the Dropbox Community!

Since you mention that you're on a Business subscription, could you confirm for me if you're including the team's name when you move the content in such a way?

Let me know what you find!

I have no idea what you are talking about. We have a folder and just do a windows cut and paste. Should be fairly straight forward, but not working in Dropbox business.

Thanks for getting back to me, @Monday_Fly

In your original post, you mention that:

If that's the case, you need to have the team name in the command when you copy from the Dropbox folder.

However, since you mention that:

Could you please describe the exact behavior that's occuring? Are you seeing any details regarding this on your events page?

Any screenshots (without personal info) you could include would be very helpful. Thanks!

We figured out the problem. Anything inside the purple-icon folder can be moved to a desktop folder (either via cut-&-paste, or drag-&-drop). The rest will auto restore. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/wjoulseahv4zgqf/dropboxproblem.png So as a temporary solution, we moved the processing files and folders inside the purple-icon folder. At the moment, we cannot create another purple-icon folder.

Thank you very much for the info on system folder. Using a system folder meets our current requirement (as opposed to a shared folder).
