Excessive Mobile Broadband Data Usage by Dropbox

Dropbox has finished syncing yet is still using 1GB of data every 30 minutes via wifi mobile broadband with no other applications running. Data usage stops if I quit Dropbox App. 

 

Is there something happening with dropbox in the background or do some wifi broadband modems not play nicely with Dropbox? 

 

Would mobile broadband band provider be miscalculating data usage by rounding up small packets used by Dropbox for indexing?

 

Using Macs with latest software versions, with HUAWEI E5785 (LTE / 4G (Cat6) wifi broadband modem on 80GB/month plan. Wondering if different modem might help?

Hi there, I'm not sure if you're posting under a different account by accident!

 

It looks like you’re running the beta version of the app.

 
To install our latest stable version, go here, uncheck the box next to "Early releases", then redownload the app
 
Let us know how it goes afterwards!

Which version of Dropbox? Saying 'latest' doesnt help I'm afraid as there are lots of them around!

How do I make sure that I have the most current version installed as I just ran into the issue with data usage.

I deleted the version I had on my phone and then went to the play store and redownloaded right from Dropbox Inc.  The version that it let me download is 124.2.4 which is nowhere close to the version stated in this thread.  Any suggestions.

Hi there, this is because the user before was referring to the Dropbox desktop application, while running on a mobile modem.
 
The version you’re referring to is the correct one for the mobile app.
 
Let me know if the issue persists after running the latest version.
