Failed to reach server while using Opera GX

Failed to reach server while using Opera GX

Hello!

I'll get straight to the point. I'm using Opera GX -- LVL2 (core: 75.0.3969.285) -- and whenever I try to modify something on a Paper,  Dropbox throws Connection lost. Your edits will save once you’re back online. Trying to reconnect… and eventually Failed to reach server error sporadically. Very rarely, it is able to connect to the server.

When I switch to another browser, there is no such issue. Could you please help me?

If you think I should raise this issue with Opera, please tell me so.

Thanks!

Hey there @Hmerac, thanks for the report and happy Monday!

I'm not sure if this will improve matters, but can you please let me know if this persists after clearing your browser's cache?

Also, could you check if there are any pending updates for your browser as well?

Let me know how it goes!

Hello!

I purged the whole history in Opera GX, the issue still persists.

I decided to troubleshoot this connection issue and started investigating the DevTools tab.

There is one thing I've noticed.

In Chrome, there is a long-standing connection established to an endpoint that is open until the end the session, for example:

https:// 83.paper.dropbox.com/comet/channel...

In Opera GX, this long-standing connection is broken after exactly 1 minute and when it's broken, Dropbox informs the user that it's failed to reach the server.

I'm not entirely sure if this is just a symptom or the cause, but that's all I could infer from DevTools. It seems to me that in Opera GX, there is an internal setting that breaks long-standing connections.

TL;DR: I still have absolutely zero clue why this is happening.

Thanks for the additional information @Hmerac - much appreciated.

Could you check if there's an update for your Opera browser perhaps?

Also, are you running any plugins or extensions that could be causing issues?
