File modification issues with Android Dropbox app

File modification issues with Android Dropbox app

When clicking edit button in a file, Dropbox sends a read write intent to other apps that can handle the file. However, if the stream gets modified, no change is reflected in Dropbox. Usually sign out and sign back in will resolve the problem for a while. Then it happens again. Is there a fix for this?

Hi @Meatloaf, thanks for posting on the Community!

Could you provide a specific example of what you're describing, and when and how the stream gets modified?

Generally, editing files on the mobile app will take a short amount of time to sync with the site, and we've not experienced any issues currently.

This will help me to assist further!

Yes, you can try the following:

- open a PDF file A and edit it with another app, after come back everything is OK
- open a PDF file B and edit it with another app, after come back, so far so good
- do the same with another PDF file C, so far all three changes are saved
- now shut down the device
- restart and repeat from step one, now file A will get modified properly, file B and C are no longer able to modify. As well as any other files

Tested with multiple PDF readers such as Adobe or Xodo.

Thanks for the info, we're not experiencing this issue on our end.

If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try uninstalling the app, rebooting the device, and reinstalling it to see if this helps?

Sign out and sign in again will temporarily resolve the problem, until you repeat my steps again. I know many people having the same problem.

On your end how exactly did you try to reproduce the issue? Could you describe step by step?

Could you try unlinking Dropbox and Adobe from the connected apps page? Additionally, in the Adobe app itself, unlink Dropbox from there.

Now, you can reconnect by opening a pdf from the Dropbox app directly.

Let me know if this helps.
