Files Syncing, Not Folders

Files Syncing, Not Folders

New member | Level 2

Hello

I recently moved a large amount of data onto DropBox. They are still being synced very slowly (probably due to slow connectivity).

I am having trouble with other folders - not the ones I have recently moved - not being uploaded. The PPT and TIFF files have a green tick on them, but the folders have no tick, and collaborators cannot see the folders.

The "sync now" option is not available for the folders, or so it seems.

Thanks!

Hi there @Mennachen, thanks for dropping by.

Out of curiosity, are you still having trouble with this?

Could you let me know what you see when you hover over the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock?

Keep us posted!

Thanks for the response. Indeed, I am still having trouble with it.

When I hover over the icon, I see the amount of files being synced (1145 files!)

For the documents I urgently need uploaded for collaborators, I have been just pasting the files themselves into our main shared folder, rather than creating a new folder, or trying to transfer a full folder. The folders are not syncing at all, even when I "sync now".

Thanks

Thanks for letting me know, @Mennachen.

Could you try the following steps in the exact order listed, and see if they do the trick?

  • Click on the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock.
  • Go to the gear or avatar icon that's on the top right corner of the Notifications panel.
  • Select Preferences...
  • Navigate to the Account tab.
  • Click anywhere in the window under the tab.
  • Hold down the 'Alt+H' keys (Windows) or the 'Option/Alt' key (Mac).
  • Click on the Fix Hardlinks button (if you’re on a Mac OS, make sure you're still holding down the 'Option/Alt' key).
  • You may be asked for your computer's login credentials, in which case, please enter them.
  • Wait a bit to see if Dropbox resumes syncing.

If the above steps don't resolve this, try the same steps again, but on the seventh one, select Fix Permissions, instead.

Let me know how it goes, cheers!
