Files missing without being manually deleted

Files missing without being manually deleted

Explorer | Level 3

Hey guys,

I've had a shared folder on Dropbox with a friend since 2015. It contained an album of music we made together years ago and put it onto Dropbox for safe keeping in case it got lost on our computers. I hadn't looked at the folder in a while, but when we both went to view it recently, all of the files were missing. It doesn't show as having been deleted in the past 180 days. The folder is still there, same name and same contributers.

I was wondering what reason there might be for the files being missing, as neither of us have touched the folder in that time save a couple of times to listen to the music. In the event that they were somehow deleted, is there any way of recovering them in that kind of time period?

Thanks in advance

Hi @danishash

Is it possible that somebody has simply accidentally dragged and dropped the files on to their computer at all? As that would move it out of the folder it would show as a deletion.

Unfortunately as nothing is showing within the 180 day window they wont be recoverable - even then they'd only have a 180 recovery window on them if, at the time they were removed, you were a paying user. If you were not then its 30 days.
