Files resyncing each time I open dropbox

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

I recently changed my dropbox location on my laptop pc to my D drive (from my C drive). I'm not sure if that's the reason, but now every time I open dropbox, files within the folders I have checked for selective sync must re-sync before I can open them. Which makes me think its not actually downloaded to my D drive. Any reason why this is happening? Before the files jut stayed on my drive, so I didn't have to wait for them to download each time I started my computer again.

Thanks in advance for any advice on this!

Hey @DivingBio, thanks for reaching out here for assistance!

  • Can you quickly clarify if it’s the ☑️ checked folders on your Selective Sync window those you’re seeing re-syncing
  • Just to get started, can you include a screenshot (without personal info) in your next message showing me what this looks like when you launch the app to advise you a bit more accurately?
I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hello,

Thanks for your response. Yes, I have the files I want on my hard drive clicked for selective sync-see screenshot.

Thanks for circling back to me so quickly Lora

It looks like we’d need to focus on your “Data - AT” folder. If so, then you’d have to make these files locally available before being able to open/edit them on other apps. This happens because Dropbox will only store the placeholder files in their place, which only store essential info about the file(s) in question.

This happens regardless of the  Dropbox folder’s location. If you’ve seen a difference after moving Dropbox to your D:\ drive, could you outline me what’s changed in your next post?

I hope this helps & please let me know if I’ve missed anything along the way. Thanks again!
