Filter files from synch

Filter files from synch

I use Dropbox as a common storage among three computers.  I often have "artifacts" that I don't want to be synced to Dropbox, even though they are in the same folder as the files that I do want to sync.  As an example, I may have a file "notes.txt" that I want to sync, and "notes.txt~" (a backup copy) that I don't want to sync.  Is there a way to set up a filter that will eliminate, say, every file that ends in "~"?

Hi @radlyeel, thanks for messaging today!

While there isn't a way to directly filter files from syncing, you could use this feature to manually ignore certain files to be synced to the Dropbox site.

If you have any further queries, please let me know!

Thanks for the response. Maybe put it on the todo list? Use Git’s “.gitignore” as a model.

There is a feature to ignore files, however, it needs to be done manually via the desktop app, or the command line.
