Folders created in windows 10 have wrong codification in Mac Os Catalina

New member | Level 2

We are having issues when we sync folders created in Windows 10 to a MacOS Catalina 10.15.6. It seems there is an issue with the codification, as we are not able to view php files or txt files. I'm sharing screenshots of the same file in Windows and how it appears in Mac. Only happens when Dropbox syncs them. If I copy the folder manually, works perfect.

This is how the file looks like in an editor in Windows:

This is the very same file when we open it with MAC:

Any help will be much appreciatted.

Hi, Jay. We solved the issue already by activating the Smart Sync functionality. I don't really know why, but it works, so no issue anymore.

Thank you very much for your kind reply.

Best.

Hi @Miss Tempest, thanks for posting on the Community!

When syncing files, Dropbox doesn't make any changes to the file itself. Does the file preview normally on the site? If so, then it doesn't sound like there's an issue with the file.

Have you tried opening the file in another text viewer to see if it loads normally there? Could you try saving the file in another text viewer on the Windows machine and let it sync to see if that helps?

Let me know how it goes!
