Hi there,
Our team discovered today that any folders ending in a . (dot), fo example, a folder named "Example Folder." would not appear locally on synced file explorers for our team members using PCs, however these folders appeared for team members using a Mac. If we remove the dot from the folder name and the folder name is changed to "Example Folder", it then appears on all synced devices locally, PC and Mac.
This is a major issue for our team as we use Dropbox for the transfer of initial data with our onboarding clients. Does anyone know if there is a way to change this setting so those folders aren't filtered out or is this a bug on Dropbox's end. We did not get any warnings from Dropbox's UI saying these files will not appear etc.
Another thing to note, the users who could not see the file locally on their PC could see the file on the web.
This isn't a Dropbox issue, but a limitation of Windows. Folders ending with a period cannot be created on Windows, so Dropbox is unable to sync them to a Windows comptuer. If you try create such a folder manually, Windows will simply remove the dot.
