Help with deleting dupe files uploaded in error.

Helpful | Level 6

Hi,

I'm new to DB & need some help.

I uploaded selected files but there was no indication on my screen whether 1] they were ready to be uploaded or 2] were actually uploading.  Some how I was able to get off that page & was able to eventually find the files uploading at the bottom of the screen.

The info presented was thin & didnt show the files in the folder they were uploaded to.  The uploading finally stopped & I guessed each file was uploaded more than once.

Now I want to delete the dupe files so I can give [removed by moderator] access to the files so they can view/analize the "blinking screen" files I uploaded.

I have trying to solve this problem for months & neither the experts at the company I purchased the Laptop from nor several local MS Certified Tech's solve the blinking problem. They mentioned that I seemed to know more about what was happening than they did. My thought was that's impossible as I'm an 80 yr old ex Corp mgr. Busn. Mgr. & have no technical training, but have lots of hands on time installing/using PC's in business.  And I have virtually used MS products from DOS 3.2, DR DOS & all versions of Win except Me & W8.

I hope you guys can help me get familiar with using DropBox then maybe I can use DB to store some of the 8 TB of date I have.

Regards,

klxdrt

Dropboxer

Hi @klxdrt, thanks for messaging the Community!

First of all, could you clarify if you're uploading files directly on the Dropbox site, or using the Dropbox desktop application by moving files into the Dropbox folder?

Could you also let me know more about this blinking screen, is it related to Dropbox at all? Is this in the browser, the app, or somewhere else?

Keep me posted!

Jay,

Thanks for your intrest 7 response.

1] A few wks ago I uploaded a video to DB going directly to DB www.dropbox.com

2] Was able to get a link, and then send to techs where I bought the laptop & other techs/forums for a solution with the laptop.

3] After wks of hearing from baffled MS certified techs, I was able to get in touch with ASUS [lots of wait time] and they wanted more videos of what was occurring.

4] Went back to DB as in #1 above. Could not delete video on DB using the STD way, RT click>delete.

5] Finally I found a site www.udrop.com  where I easily uploaded videos & was emailed the links: download links?  Y,   N, and in a NY minute I had links & sent them to ASUS.

6] I’ve used DB [a little] for yrs, but it was a little more complicated that I wanted get involved with.  I do a lot of intricate research across the world of business, healthcare esp. big pharma, govt. tech & internet.  And I introduced to the K.I.S.S. principle by the 2 F-500 co. & the military.

7] I could use secure cloud space for my fast moving research data using the following busn process:

Select the DB icon on my desktop.  Sign in to my DB acct. Select the files on my HD to upload to the preselected folder. Select upload.  Get back to work.

Jay all I wanted to do was delete a video I uploaded previously so when I uploaded the links of the blinking screen there woulnt be any confusion.

I included the links to demonstrate some of the complexity I run into much of the time.  As to the links, expert techs along with Asus were not able to come up with the cause & a solution.  I've run into to this same situation with Amazon, & Apple especially & other big companies & govt agencies who should know.

I appreciate your interest. My wife is calling me.

Thanks for the updates here @klxdrt!

Just to clarify, the issue that you're having deleting this video file from your account, was it due to not seeing the option to delete or that the option didn't work?

You should be able to delete any files in your account with the steps outlined in this article. Please bear in mind that you won't be able to do this from the Home page, you'll need to select "All files" from the left panel first.

If you're having any issues with deleting the files with the above steps, please feel free to send along any relevant screenshots.

Let me know how it goes!
