How can I keep shared folders/files after sharer deletes files?

New member | Level 2

How can I manage folders/files so that I can permanently keep files after a "Sharer" deletes the files.

Workflow

Using Adobe Indesign to create a brochure, I include a link from a shared folder/file from my client. The link is not embedded in the file. If a linked file is deleted then the file becomes unusable because of a missing link.

So how can we keep the files permanently?

I imagine the files will need to be copied/duplicated into a new local folder and then re-uploaded to Dropbox separate from the original source. This makes an illogical workflow as any new files put into the source/shared folder will need to be copied again and could get lost.

How can we mark folders/files as "Keep Permanently"?

Cheers!

Dropboxer

Hi @Someonesson, thanks for taking the time to message us!

How exactly are you getting these files from your clients? Are they providing you with a shared link to a file that is stored on their account?

Are they instead uploading files into a shared folder that you're a member of, and are you the owner of this folder?

This will help me assist further!
