I would like to keep people that I share files with from being able to download the files, how can I share files just for viewing?

Hi there @imagesbc!

You can disable downloads for shared links, which is available for Dropbox Professional and Business plans. If you’re not sure which subscription you’re under, you can navigate to your Plan tab for more info.

Hope this helped to some extent!

View only permissions to protect file. I don't want them to download.

Hi. Is there a way that I can share a video file (in one of my Dropbox folders) with someone (who does, or does not, have dropbox) in a manner in which they will be able to (only) view/watch it, but NOT be able to download the file?

Thanks,

Hey there @Fredric G.,

You can share the file using a shared link as the recipient doesn't need to have a Dropbox account to be able to view the contents of the link. However, to disable downloads for a shared link, you will need to have either a Dropbox Professional or Business subscription so that you can apply the additional settings to the link.

I hope this helps - Cheers!
