Re: sharing files

How can I share with people who don't have Dropbox and allow them to view?

i share a file, enter the address of the recipient, set it to view only, enter a message and send it.

Problem: the recipient is asked to login or create a Dropbox account. But Dropbox says:

"You can share folders and files in your Dropbox account with anyone (even if they don’t have a Dropbox account). "

So what the  ---- is the deal. Are they lying to us???

I do not want the recipient to be able to edit or mess around with the file. I just want them to be able to view or download it. I don't want them to have to login or create an account either

Sharing a file with view-only access is different from sharing a link to a file. Sharing with view-only access requires the recipient to have a Dropbox account, and the file will sync to their own account. Creating a share link to the file still provides view-only access, but doesn't require a Dropbox account. Anyone with the link can view or download the file.
