Hi
I created a shared folder a while ago and thought I just gave someone else ownership rights to it. It appears that there can only be one Owner and so I no longer have any control over a folder in my account. The Owner is no longer available and I want to delete that folder and free up space.
I have searched everywhere and am getting the impression that it can't be done, which seems crazy that I do not have control of my own account.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Walter
I think you misunderstood. Those instructions are to "Remove a shared folder from your Dropbox" or as the url says to "Leave a Shared Folder". The folder is on my account using up my space I want to delete it, not remove myself from it and leave it using my space.
It is no longer required and I can't get the Owner to do anything other than to say I can delete it, which I can't seem to do.
Cheers, Richard
Thanks for getting back to us here @Richa99!
If you follow the steps outlined under "Temporarily remove a folder" in the link Walter provided and simply delete the folder, it will be removed from your Dropbox account but you can still add it back later from your Sharing tab.
Removing the folder this way will remove it from your Files page within Dropbox and no longer take space in your Dropbox account.
If you remove your access with the "Permanently remove a folder" steps, the folder will be completely removed from your account and won't be visible from your Sharing tab to add back later.
Both of these actions will remove the folder to stop it taking space in your account.
Hope that helps clarify the matter!
