How do I disable or remove capture?

How do I disable or remove capture?

How do I disable or remove capture? The screenshot URLs do not work for some reason. I just want to go back to the old dropbox screenshot URLs. I've uninstalled dropbox capture and unchecked/rechecked the dropbox settings in the regular dropbox app, but my screenshot URLs still use the capture domain. Those do not work, they just return a 404, every time. Additionally, they do not unfurl in slack, and other users then have to download capture to view. This is so frustrating, how do I remove it?

Took one, here's the link I get: https://capture.dropbox.com/EAvHr2AdHUJvjwmr?src=ss - as you can see, it is still a "capture" URL, and nothing ever loads there. So no, it has not reverted back.

Understood. To confirm, this a link you just generated now right? Also, are you using this with a Dropbox Account that is part of a team?

Yes, I just took that as I wrote my response.

My account was previously associated with a team, but I don't believe it is any longer. Where would I look to verify that?

Looking here, I don't see any teams associated with my account: https://capture.dropbox.com/Aek2bAz2icpiAPcq?src=ss

Hey everyone!

Just to let you know that we reverted back to the previous Dropbox links until the fix for 404 errors goes live. Thank you so much for your help surfacing this issue.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to follow up on my message above.

  • The 404 error should never happen again. We've deployed the fix. Thank you so much for your help in finding the root cause of this issue
  • dl=1 and raw=1 now work exactly as you requested

Please let us know if there is anything else you'd like us to add to the Capture links to make them even better.

Thank you so much!

Not sure but the problem I highlighted originally is back.I'm not sure it was fully understood though.

We've managed to bypass the issue by moving the dev team to Loom instead of Dropbox, but some of the team don't have Loom so still hoping this gets resolved.

When we take a screen shot on a Mac using Command + Shift + 4, you drag a box, you get a link, however the link previously was a dropbox link instead of Capture.

Here is an example https://capture.dropbox.com/70II7kHGHSadcTwF, you see this link can't be embedded even in your editor. your editor here complains it's not a complete URL.

Previously it would create a link to Dropbox with a dl=0, we'd change the dl=1 and it would directly load the image in an editor like this.

Do you know if this is a problem, or have you disabled the URL's for dropbox images completely now? Off course I can take a screenshot and drag the image from my desktop to the box, bypassing Dropbox completely, but previously it used to upload it (it still does upload it!) and create a link to the dropbox file in my copy/paste buffer, which I'd then just paste into the editor image url box. Now that link I've put in this message here can't be used in the same way.

I use this feature too, but since the last update it works again in e.g. Google Mail - just add "?raw=1" to the link:

https://capture.dropbox.com/70II7kHGHSadcTwF?raw=1

But you are right, it does not work here at dropbox where I get the same error as you when I try to insert an image with the parameter:

https://capture.dropbox.com/b5o4xDgcyLUNjGiI

Thanks it seems raw=1 solves the trick on the new Capture links.

Great to hear. The dl=1 works now for Capture links. Thank you so much you all for the feedback!
