what was synced was my desktop, downloads, documents and other things
🤷 In sync or not, files you are talking about should still be on your computer. Dropbox application just moves them into Dropbox folder to be able sync them, nothing more. Once you turn the feature off, all folder will get back to their original places and that will remove them from Dropbox. 😉 That's it.
Hope this sheds additional light.
yes awesome thank you so much for your time!!

Inadvertently I synced my Desktop to Dropbox. I did not want this at all - all apps, docs, pic etc are now''hijacked'' by Dropbox.
I can't delete them on Dropbox as they will be deleted from my PC
DropBox is full and I don't want to pay for more capacity.
I want to totally decouple my Desktop from Dropbox. I am VERY untechnically minded!!
Please could you help to explain in easy step by step how I can reclaim my Desktop back to my PC and away from Dropbox, and free-up space in DB.
Thank you!

Hi Daphne,
Thanks so much for your reply.
When I go into Dropbox I cannot see a ''desktop app preferences'' or Backups tab. I've looked in the App Centre and cannot see it there. Can you explain where I'd locate this please?
Antonia
