is there a way to restrict one person working on a file at a time so that conflict does not occure?

Hey @northstar1, I'd be happy to help!

 

Two of the easiest ways to avoid a conflicted copy when collaborating on files is to use the Dropbox Badge or Microsoft Office Online.

 

If you're on a Business team or on a Professional account, you can also use file locking.

 

If you're not too sure on which subscription you're on, you can check it out from your Plan tab.
