I need to clear up storage space and want to delete a large folder from my dropbox folder.
I've followed the accepted answer from the following post in which is says to sync the folder to dropbox.com then remove it from selective sync and delete it.
When everything is synced I turn of selective sync on that folder and delete it. A window pops up asking me to either do a online only removal or delete them everywhere. When I cancel the folder is removed from my dropbox.com storage.
I don't want to do an online only folder and I don't want it to delete everywhere. I want to "remove the files from my computer but keep them in my dropbox.com".
Is that an option anymore?
How do I do it?
Hello
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community
Let's see here, what you stated is that YOU deleted the folder. That's where the danger lies. Read carefully this article: https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/sync-uploads/selective-sync-overview
when you go into Preferences and go into Selective Sync. You would uncheck the folder that you want GONE on your Harddrive. Then press ok and the Dropbox Client is the one that removes it. Simple. The problem is that you did the action of removing. SO don't do that and let the CLient do the task
Hopes this help and reply back if this works for you
