How to do this - restore select ed files

How to do this - restore select ed files

Hello:

I recently receive a Dropbox email that said:

"You recently deleted 1311 files from your Dropbox account. If you want these files back, you can still restore them until 8/17/2021. After that, they’ll be permanently deleted."

However there is no instruction for just restoring individual files - can someone post how to do this.

It appears DropBox "deleted some files I did not select for deletion.

Hi @Rangeryder, thanks for posting!

Can you please let me know if you're restoring those files via the deleted files page or the events page?

Thanks!

Hello:

The top of the page says:

Event Details

Hi @Rangeryder, is there anything else on that page, such as the deleted files or edited files?

What about the deleted files page? Can you see the files there?

Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!

Since the event was one giant deletion of a folder, it's only possible to restore the entire folder by clicking the button on the right.

Individual files can't be restored in this manner when the event was one folder.

Okay, however, please answer this -

• If I restore all these files, what will become of files with the same name and have been updated NOW in my dropbox.

• What will happen if this restore causes me to exceed my 2 GBYTE storage space?

Thanks for your assistance.

If you restore the files, it might overwrite the files that are now in that folder. I'd recommend making a backup of the folder first before doing the restoration to prevent any potential data loss.

If this restoration pushes the account overquota, it should still process the recovery. However, afterwards you won't be able to sync anything until the account goes underquota.
