How to keep dropbox on my office computer confidential

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

I have a home computer and an office computer synced with the same dropbox. Is there a way of making the dropbox on my office computer passworded without having to close it and losing the sync? (Office computer is stationary and is kind of semi-shared with colleagues) Both are iMacs.

Hi Andy, currently this wouldn't be possible, since the Dropbox folder is not a network drive and the Dropbox software has no control over access to the folder.

The Dropbox folder is just a normal folder on your machine, and has the same folder security as any other on the machine.

If you're sharing the same machine, we'd instead recommend having your login separate to the other, and password-protected. This will prevent them from logging into your computer account, and then seeing your Dropbox folder.

Hope this info helps!
