How to prevent contents of shared folder from being removed unintentionally?

Explorer | Level 4

I often use DropBox to share a folder full of photos.  I generally share a link via an email.

I want recipients to be able to download whatever images they want and add them to their own collections.

But there is a very common problem:  People with DropBox inevitably drag photos they like from the shared folder.  This empties the folder -- fine for sharing with 1 person but a big problem when sharing with several.

How can I give full viewing and copying access to a collection of files through DropBox, while not allowing them to remove items from a folder?

Use a share link instead of a shared folder. Share links provide view and download access only.

Thank you for the quick reply, Rich.  I will try that now.

Do you know if this has changed in the past year or two.  By my somewhat hazy memory, I thought that a shared link to a folder was exactly what I had used, but I did have problems with files (images) disappearing from the folder.

No, it hasn't changed. If you used a share link, then it's not the people accessing it that moved/removed files (since that's not possible). If you invited people to a shared folder, then they would have the ability to move/remove files.
