Hello there @fbobed00, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

When you mention that you hyperlinked a file, did you perhaps copy the file path from your desktop?

If you copied the file path that's something along the lines of "C:\[Username]\Dropbox", then opening this on another computer might not work as the "Username" might be different.

Let me know what you find and we'll go from there - thanks!

To take it a step further...

The reason for this is that applications like Office and others that allow linked files typically use the full path to the file being linked. So, as @Daphne described, unless the path to the linked file is EXACTLY the same on both computers, it will never work. Most applications will not accept a partial or relative path, and will always use the full path.

The only way to be certain it will work is to have your Dropbox folder stored in the exact same location on both comptuers, such as C:\Dropbox.

I saw your second post and will try what you mentioned and see what happens.

Thanks for taking the time, that is good of you

Yes the problem is that the dropbox box path is thru different user names. Just so I don't really mess things up can I ask how I move the Dropbox directly to the C drive
