I can see a shared folder on the website but not on my computer. Why?

A collegue of mine has shared a dropbox folder with me. However, I cannot see all the folders inside the shared folder unless I go onto dropbox.com. They do not appear in the list on my computer.

I figured it out. The files that I COULD NOT see were originally in another shared folder and I had Selectively set them to NOT SYNC to my computer. So when they were moved to their new location they retained their NOT SYNC status so I couldn't see them.

Hey @TraceyF, thanks for reaching out to us on the Dropbox Community!

I'd be more than happy to help, I'll just need more info, such as:

  • What does the Dropbox icon (that's next to your computer's clock) show when you hover over it?
  • Does the folder or file names have any incompatible characters

Let me know what you find!

Hey there!

Accidentally I too was browsing over here for the solution of same problem. Thanks heaven! I found it here. I was also a bit preplexed about why I couldn't access shared folder. So, mainly it was no sync that caused the mess. Thanks again

Regards
