I don't have Smart Sync enabled, but my files are downloading as online only. Why is that?

I just found out about the Smart sync feature.

I was very confused about why I'm syncing stub files and not the real files.

I'm Selectively syncing a folder. I have never turned on the Smart sync feature, and yet I'm getting these "cloud-stub" files. Very disappointed in the UX of this feature.

Is this a known bug?

Hey there @vstepano, I hope you're well today!

That is rather strange indeed, since you haven't enabled this through the desktop app. Can you let me know which version of the app you have installed?

What I can suggest if you want to ensure files sync locally after checking selectively synced folders, would be to first make sure all files are local by right clicking the Dropbox folder and choosing "Smart Sync - Local".

Once the files have synced and the desktop app shows "Up to date", you can follow the steps here to opt out of the system extension used for Smart Syncing files.

Let me know what you find!

v93.4.273
To fix this, I enabled the Smart Sync and right-clicked on the folder in question selected Smart Sync -> "Local."
Thank you for the responce

I'm glad to hear that did the trick @vstepano!

I'm just a post away if I can help with anything else.

Have a great day!
