I don't want my desktop to automatically sync with Dropbox

I don't want my desktop to automatically sync with Dropbox

New member | Level 2

Hi,

dropbox is automatically syncronicing my dektop with my dropbox. I don't need and don't want that. It is blocking saving space.

I cannot change it in the settings.

Any other ideas than deleting the app?

Cheers

Hey @Moshammer, thanks for reaching out to us.

You won't need to delete the desktop app to stop it from syncing.

All you have to do is turn off our computer backup feature.

I hope this helps, but let us know if you have any trouble along the way. Cheers!

Thank you! That helped!

Do I have to use another computer to delete the Backup folder?

Because now it tells me that there are files in use and it is impossible to delete.

Just to make sure that we cover as much initial ground as possible, could you let me know if:

  • There are any relevant processes running in the background when checking your Task Manager/Activity Monitor?
  • The files in question are back to their original locations?

Keep me posted, @Moshammer!
