I never want Dropbox to delete files on my computers. Never ever ever. I only want to use it as cloud storage. Is there a way to do this with absolute certainty, or should I just delete my free account?

Hello there @mdignard, thanks for posting your question here.

You do not have to install the desktop app on your computer to continue using your Dropbox account.

Instead, you can just continue uploading, previewing, and sharing files directly from the website.

Just to make sure that we're on the same page though, do you already have it installed?

If you do, do you have missing files from your computer?

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
