I have a question about the Dropbox Transfer feature. Any ideas?

I've just received a number of files via transfer, which I saved to my Dropbox rather than downloading to my laptop. My question: if I change the filenames in my Dropbox, do the original files remain unchanged (i.e. the person who transferred will still have all the files exactly as they were before transfer)?

Hello @evmm - welcome to the Dropbox family!

To directly cut to the chase, no, the original files and their names won't be edited in any way as you've practically put a copy of them in your Dropbox account when you accepted the transfer

Let me know if you have any more questions; I'll be happy to follow up!

Hi @Walter!

A related follow-up question:

If I share a folder by Transfer, and then I add or edit a folder in my Dropbox in the transfer folder BEFORE the transfer is downloaded by the recipient, will the recipient get the updated version (with the new or edited file(s)), or will he/she only get the transfer as it was orginally sent pre-edits?

THANKS!

Hi there @DolphinUber, thanks for the follow up!

The recipient of your transfer will receive a copy of the folder as it was at the time you initiated the transfer so they won't see any of your following edits.
