I haven't received a Notification for files added on a shared folder on my system tray. Why?

I am having a problem with not getting any notifications from my dropbox shortcut on my iMac.  I have a client that uploaded 2 jobs yesterday (18th) and they showed up this morning to pick the job up and i said i didn't get anything but when i opened the dropbox app it showed files were dropped there yesterday.

*See Photos Attached*
The shortcut indicates the last update is 13 days ago and even when i go on to the notifcations tab it still shows the activity from 13 days ago (READ) and it says Up To Date for the syncing.

Can someone help me figure this out?
Thanks
G

Hey @aldenhauk, I’m here to help; thanks for the detailed message!

It looks like you haven’t received the red dot Notification when viewing the Dropbox icon on your system tray/menu bar, am I on the right track here?

I can see that you’re currently looking at the “You” view that should update for the files you’ve uploaded on the share from your own account. Since you mentioned that your colleague added files, the Note should be on the “Shared” tab.

  • Can I have you Quit the app once from the options you’re getting when you click on your Profile photo?
  • Once you do, I’d suggest launching the Dropbox desktop app again through the Windows Start Menu/your Applications & see if you get the missing Note.
  • Also, did the files update normally within the share?
Please let me know how my advice works for you & we’ll go from there. Thanks!

Hi Jane

Thanks for your reply.  I was able to check everything you said and had the client drop some more files in and it worked.  The "YOU" tab is what seemed to be my problem, as you indicated i wasn't on the shared tab.

Can i ask? What does the "Notifications Tab"  in the menu bar do as there was no indication of activity after what he just did (dropping 2 separate files 2 minutes apart and then deleting them both simultaneously)
Thanks again

Great @aldenhauk, happy to hear things are clearer now; we’re almost there!

You should receive overview notifications on the “Notifications” tab, including updates to descriptions, edits and to-dos. You will not see notes for deletions there, however you can find this info on your Deleted Files & Events pages.

I hope this helps & I’m always here if you have more questions for me!
